A homeless Broward County man was arrested over the weekend after authorities alleged he ran naked and intoxicated through the parking lot of a West Palm Beach Wal-Mart.
Jacob Steiner, 25, is a “well-known narcotics user and this is unfortunately a very common practice for him,” police wrote in an arrest report made public this week.
Steiner, who is from the Pompano Beach area, faces charges of disorderly intoxication, indecent exposure and trespass after warning. He remained in custody at the Palm Beach County at the Palm Beach County Jail early Wednesday after twice refusing to appear in court. A judge set his bond at $5,500.
City police were called shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday to the Wal-Mart in the 4200 block of 45th Street, west of Village Boulevard. An officer arrived to find Steiner riding naked on a shopping cart as bystanders pointed in his direction.
A store security officer told police that Steiner had received trespass warnings in the past and was not supposed to be on the Wal-Mart property. Palm Beach County court records show that Steiner has a criminal history that includes arrests for panhandling.
Following his arrest Saturday, Steiner was taken to JFK Medical Center-North for medical clearance.
