Crestview (WTFF) – A Florida man was arrested after reportedly lighting firecrackers under a sleeping child’s bed.
44-year-old Matthew Morrison is facing charges for burglary, child cruelty without great harm, and possession of a controlled substance, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The Crestview man lives in a tent outside of the home on Godfrey Street where the incident took place on Saturday.
He reportedly went inside without permission and threw a “string of lit firecrackers” under the bed of a sleeping nine-year-old girl.
The homeowner chased the Florida man out with a stick.
The little girl told deputies that the exploding fireworks frightened her, and that she was crying and shaking.
Morrison said the whole thing was a “prank gone wrong.”
Deputies found about two grams of meth in his pocket.
