Eustis (WTFF) – A Florida man was arrested after being found asleep at a stop sign with meth pipes in his pickup truck.
On Tuesday around 7:00 am, a Eustis police officer responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of N. Prescott and E. Bates Ave.
There was a “white pick up truck with garbage in the bed, just sitting at the stop sign,” said the anonymous caller, according to the arrest affidavit.
An officer arrived and found 22-year-old Darren Mercer inside his white Dodge truck. He “appeared to be asleep.” Darren is a Florida Native.
On his lap was a meth pipe. The vehicle was searched, and another meth pipe was found “inside a boot on the floor board.” There was also a little weed inside a cigarette pack. Field tests verified everything, at least preliminarily.
Darren was arrested taken to jail. He’s been charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. As of Sunday he remains in jail with a $2,000 bond.
He has no prior convictions, so it appears that he very recently morphed from a Floridian to a Florida Man.
