DELRAY BEACH – A 78-year-old Boca Raton man was arrested at Delray Medical Center on Sunday after he allegedly hit a paramedic in the back of the head with a television remote because the remote wasn’t working, according to an arrest report.
Allen Brown is facing a charge of battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $3,000 bond.
Brown was waiting for a CAT scan Sunday at the hospital when he became “irate” because of the amount of time he was waiting, the report said.
After being told by a medical staff member that the scan would take place soon, Brown asked the man for the remote control to the television in the waiting room, the report said. When the remote did not work, Brown allegedly threw it at the back of the man’s head, causing a half-inch laceration that required medical attention.
Brown told police he threw the remote on the floor and didn’t hit the man, the report said.
