Clearwater (WTFF) – A man from Safety Harbor was arrested after he allegedly tried to kidnap a 76-year-old woman in the parking lot of a craft store.
The woman was able to avoid being kidnapped by screaming and falling to the ground.
37-year-old Douglas Hoover walked up to her in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby on 19 in Clearwater, and told her, “Get in the car, I have a gun,” according to police.
She refused, and he threatened her again. That’s when she fell down to the ground screaming.
Hoover ran away and was chased by some good Floridians. They were not fast enough to catch him.
Police used a dog to track the Florida Man to an apartment complex a half mile away at 2550 Stag Run Blvd.
Hoover was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping. Previous arrests include drug possession and petty retail theft.
