Florida Man Richard Jeremy Ware was sentenced to prison for five years because he threatened to kill President Obama while he was in office.
While serving his time in a Central Florida prison last March, 42-year-old Richard tried to send out a letter threatening to “murder” Trump. He was almost finished with his sentence, but since the letter was intercepted, he received another sentence of 4 years and three months in October after pleading guilty. It wasn’t mentioned why the sentence for threatening to murder Trump was slightly less severe than threatening to murder Obama.
In the most recent letter, he also said that he would not comply with the three years of supervised release that was part of his post-prison sentencing.
“I am going to murder the United States president Donald Trump,” he wrote in the letter, according to the indictment collected by the Orlando Sentinel. He also wrote that he would kill anyone who tried to interfere, including Trump’s daughter (not sure which one, articles didn’t say). He wrote, “I assure you that I am serious” and mentioned that he was “not afraid to die.”
In the November 2011 letter written to Barack Obama, Richard also threatened Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and George Bush… and he threatened to sexually assault the two Obama daughters.
Richard Ware was evaluated by mental-health professionals who proclaimed that he is “capable of formulating plans and following through on them,” and that not only is he obviously “paranoid, and very capable of violence,” but also “calculating” and “intelligent.”
It’s no surprise that Ware requested to be his own lawyer in the case, even though he never studied law.
