Here we have herpetologist Fred Boyce, from Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium, in a scuffle with this 300lb beast.
He had been called out to try and move the massive alligator from a ditch just off a highway in Stacy, North Carolina.
Fred is seen storming towards the 10 foot-long animal before throwing a towel over its head.
As he gets closer, he rounds on the gator and stands right behind it, leaning over its body.
But as he finally gets his hands on top of the towel, the alligator lashes out.
It whips its giant head around and snaps its jaws as Fred falls back into the ditch.
The gator latches onto the man’s arm, ripping into his skin as he desperately tries to get himself free.
After a nail-biting few seconds, the reptile appears to calm down and others rush in to help Fred.
Onlookers can be heard shrieking in the background of the clip.
Fred was later taken to hospital and treated for the bite to his arm.
The alligator was eventually removed from its precarious position without causing harm to any more humans.
