Clean Energy Fest Focuses on Our Energy Future

PENSACOLA — Pensacola’s second annual Clean Energy Fest brings renewable energy and fun to downtown Pensacola on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event celebrates a clean energy future through art, food, live music, and dynamic people showcasing solar, wind, and people-power for the 21st century. The event is part of the 2016 Pensacola Foo Foo Festival, and will be held at the Bowden Building and TT Wentworth Museum yard.

The Future of Energy juried art competition will feature works by local artists in all genres to give artistic expression to the many benefits of a clean energy future. Judges for the competition will include artists and designers from the Gulf Coast art community, university faculty, and clean energy specialists.

Goldman Prize-winning poet Hilton Kelley shares his work blending the power of words with the urgency of environmental justice. Kelley is backed-up by a full lineup of poets from the West Florida Literary Federation, adding a local flavor.

The Fest includes a “Clean Ideas Fest”–a fast-paced forum where ideas in clean energy innovation are shared to a panel of judges, while a children’s area engages youth in education and crafts relating to wind, solar, and other forms of clean energy. The event features live music from a solar and people-powered stage, including regional environmental folk music favorite Sassafras.

Displays of electric cars and solar panels show the latest real-world applications of clean energy and conservation. A newly-built tiny house constructed by Pensacola State College Students inspires with innovative design that makes small live large.

The Fest site is the Bowden Building and TT Wentworth Museum yard, located at 120 Church St. in downtown Pensacola. For more information please visit:
