Okaloosa County (WTFF) – An elementary school resource officer accidentally left her service weapon in a faculty bathroom.
The faculty bathroom was off-limits to students.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies said in a news release published by mypanhandle.com:
“The weapon was there less than five minutes before the officer realized she had not put it back on her belt after placing it on a shelf approximately six feet above the floor.”
“She was on her way to retrieve it when a parent noticed it inside the faculty bathroom at Elliot Point Elementary School around 9:10 a.m. while looking for paper towels.”
The incident was reported to her supervisors by SRO, and an inquiry is underway.
Nobody got hurt. No students were able to score a brand new gun.
