Jupiter man who went “Guat Hunting” claims “Stand Your Ground”

Back in 2015 a group of three men from Jupiter, FL, went out “Guat hunting” and beat 18-year-old Guatemalan Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramo to death.

David Harris was one of the men arrested for the hate crime, under charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery committed with evidence of prejudice.

He told police that they were out “Guat hunting,” and testified that him and his friends spotted Lopez-Ramo in a group, and purposely targeted him.

Now his defense attorney Franklin Prince is asking the judge to throw out all charges under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, as reported by the Palm Beach Post.

The lawyer suddenly changed many of the details described in the fatal encounter, trying to spin the story in a different way, also mentioning that David is “partially of Hispanic descent,” as if that has anything to do with murdering someone…

“Defendant was justified in using deadly force and had no duty to retreat because such force was necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or his brother or to prevent the imminent commission of forcible felony,” Prince wrote, adding that Harris “overheard the alleged victim talking about a firearm thus causing the fear and prevented the defendant from any retreat.”

Coming from the state where Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman went free, it wouldn’t be surprising if they let him out too…
