“We are as disgusted as the public is…”
The public information officer for the FWC told us they are working diligently on the infamous shark torture case. They are deeply upset over this incident, and are just as disgusted by these photos and videos as the public. Coming from people who work with Florida wildlife every day, this despicable act goes against everything they stand for.
The reason these men have not been charged yet, is because it’s still an active ongoing investigation. They know the names of the boys, but are still gathering evidence. Anyone who has additional evidence (preferably something new, not yet circulating the internet) may send an anonymous tip to tip@myfwc.com
WTF Florida has been putting the pressure on to pursue legal action against these men, but please understand that the FWC is on our side. The legal system is extremely slow, and because of that we have seen an increasingly frustrated consensus coming from out audience. While we hold back no punches (we are not an official news source, so fuck being politically correct), we also encourage the public to have patience while this investigation takes place. In the end, it’s a judge that will decide their punishment, not the FWC, and not the public.
We support the FWC as they continue to work towards pressing charges against the men who violated our Florida wildlife.
Attention from Gov. Scott
Rick Scott sent out this letter to Chairman Brian Yablonski:
Yablonski sent this response to Scott:
I, my fellow Commissioners, and the men and women of the FWC, who are dedicated to conserving Florida’s precious natural resources for future generations, could not agree more with Governor Scott’s powerful words. Each and every member of our agency is disgusted by the behavior shown in the video. FWC Division of Law Enforcement investigators are working diligently to come to a lawful resolution in this case. Florida is a sportsman’s destination and there is no place in Florida for these kinds of callous acts. We are eager to move forward with the Governor’s suggestion to review and strengthen regulations as necessary to help deter this type of behavior in the future. These individuals do not represent the sentiments and conscientious actions of millions of conservation-minded anglers around the world.
